Central Connecticut Rowing (CCR) helps to support the Middletown Recreation and Community Services Rowing program for men and women, youth and adults, aged 13 years old and up. The summer sessions offer instruction for the novice, recreational and the competitive rower. Novice participants will initially do training on rowing machines (ergs) and then move to more time on the water. All rowers will do some indoor/erg workouts.

This program offers a great opportunity to get in or stay in shape, learn about rowing or improve your rowing skills, to meet like-minded people in your community and enjoy one of the best features of the Middletown area, the Connecticut River.

All NEW participants must pass a swim test or provide a signed swim test waiver.  Swim tests will be held on a date TBD 5:45 - 6:45pm at the Woodrow Willson Middle School pool OR you can download a swim waiver from the Middletown Recreation and Community Services website and have it signed by a certified lifeguard. For more information please call the Middletown Recreation and Community Services at 860-638-4500. Swim tests are valid for 5 years.

Participants are not allowed on the water until swim test waiver and emergency contact forms are completed and submitted to the Rec Dept or head coach. This form can be found on the Registration page. Please bring to your first session.  Participation is not allowed until this completed form is handed into the head coach.

Fall rowing is open to advanced rowers (18 or older) who would like the opportunity to race or practice with those who would like to race. Since this is a competitive program, attendance is needed at least 2/3 practices per week.  The head coach can help determine if this session is right for you. The goal of the program is to prepare each rower and coxswain for racing, in addition to improving skills and conditioning. Please register on the Middletown Recreation & Community Services website.

**Experienced rowers interested in racing will incur additional fees for regattas.

PLEASE NOTE: occasional Sat. races may require rescheduling of practices because of conflict!
